As a South Florida native there are lots of public golf courses to choose from for great golf. Not all golf courses are well-kept, so in order to find the best courses in South Florida, you have to do some digging. Many of the courses in Broward County have tons of water and palm trees to give you that “beachy” feel. There are many golf courses in the Broward area to choose from for golfers who aren’t members of private clubs or for “snow birds” visiting during the cold months. Here’s our list of top golf courses in the Broward County area.
1. Deer Creek Golf Club
Deer Creek Golf located in Deerfield Beach is a semi-private course located only 5 miles from the beach. Having played this course many times, I would consider this one of the best golf courses in Broward County or South Florida. This 18 hole champion course opened in 1991 and offers an awesome course layout architected by Arthur Hills with features of tough undulations and raised greens.
The course is very well kept and is the perfect spot to experience South Florida Golf.
In 2004 they did a $2M renovation of the greens and fairways and they have been in perfect shape ever since.
Yardage: 5,918 – 7,050 yards
Rating: 65.2 – 75.3
Price: Depending on the time of year the fees can range from $40-$100 per player.

2. Jacaranda Golf Club
As someone who lives in Plantation, FL and has played both Jacaranda East and West Course many times, this course is definitely at the top of my list. This is a semi-private golf course also but you will have no problem booking a tee time the same day if you aren’t a member.
Jacaranda Golf Club features 36 holes of south Florida golf and has been open since 1971. There is plenty of water and sand to make this course challenging.
Some say the East course is better than the West course but both offer a great south Florida environment with wildlife and tropical areas on the course.
Yardage: East – 4,923 – 7,245 yards; West – 5,026 – 6,778 yards
Par: Both the east and west course are 72.

3. Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club
Plantation Preserve Golf and Country Club is owned by the City of Plantation and is well-maintained. You can expect these greens to be very fast and the fairway to be soft. This course plays a litle longer and will be very challenging.
One of my favorite holes at Plantation Preserve is hole #7 which has a very tough “peninsula” green and water all along the left side of the hole.
Another hole that is a favorite is the 9th hole with it’s own island green. Be careful on your second shot here because too short or long and you are in the water.
Yardage: 5,801 – 7,148 yards
Rating: 68.9 – 72.9
Slope: 116 – 134
Price: This course can be in the $60’s – $90’s during morning hours and $50-$60 during afternoon hours.

4. Eagle Trace Golf Club
Eagle Trace Golf Club hosted the Honda Classic back in 1994 and features 18 holes of south Florida-style golf. There is water that runs up the left side of the front 9 and up the right side on the back 9. Eagle Trace Golf Club is located in Coral Springs, FL and is most known for its 18th hole with a “stage” view that can be seen 470 yards long.
This course isn’t too long but is very difficult given the amount of water and the length of the rough making for many lost balls if you don’t hit them straight.
I’ve played this course multiple times and it is usually professionally run and well-maintained.
Yardage: 5,100 – 7,000 yards
Price: This course can be a bit pricey even in the off-season. Usually around $60+.

5. Coral Springs Country Club
Coral Springs Country Club located in Coral Springs, FL has snuck into our top 5 for the best public golf courses in Broward County. This course was recently renovated and features some amazing greens and well-kept fairways.
Currently we consider Coral Springs Country Club to have the best greens in South Florida due to their recent renovation.
The staff is super nice and the people respect the pace of play very well.
Greens: Fast and true.
Yardage: Up to 6,700 yards from the back tees.
